Have you received an invitation to apply for a Chase Freedom® card? Whether or not you have been an existing customer of the Chase bank, you should not be surprised why you suddenly received a letter or an email from Chase. Bank and card issuers normally send out these kinds of invitations to potential cardholders. It is to note that the invitation is almost always a promotion. Therefore, it frequently does not equate to you being approved for the credit card offered.

Responding to the Invitation

Once you have received the Chase Freedom® invitation, you have two options here. You can either ignore the letter or you can apply for the card. Remember that when you received the letter, it does not affect your score. No matter how many messages you receive, your score is definitely not affected. On the contrary, once you respond to the invitation by filling out the form and submitting it to Chase, the mentioned bank will perform a standard inquiry on your credit report, which can remain in your file for a specific period of time. You can protect your credit score by keeping all your applications to a minimum. The recommended number is typically from 2 to 3 applications every six months at the most.

It is required by law that the invitation should contain the following pieces of information:

  •  Annual percentage rate or APR
  • Applicable variable APRs
  • Grace period
  • Annual fees and other fees, including balance transfer, cash advance, and late payment charge
  • Method of computing the balances for the finance charge

Make sure that you observe the aforesaid elements to determine if the Chase Freedom is for you.
