Americanexpress.com/applydeltagold Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card
The Gold Delta SkyMiles® credit card is issued by American Express. It is geared toward people who travel frequently and those who have excellent credit scores. The card is obviously a combination of the two giants in the travel arena. With Delta and American Express joining forces, you can expect that the product features some of the best offers in the card industry.
This card promises to be a good deal, particularly to business travelers. It provides freebies, benefits, and competitive rates as well. All in all, it is quite a lucrative plastic.
Gold Delta SkyMiles® Rewards
This card permits you to earn miles in two ways. The first is through every dollar you spend with the card. One dollar is equivalent to one mile, which you can save to earn rewards. The other is through purchasing tickets for a Delta flight. The miles that you have accumulated can be used to pay for your next flight. If you do not have sufficient miles for your ticket, you can combine them with legal tender.
Like most of the cards that exist today, new signups are awarded with bonus points. The bonus is quite big, although you need to spend a minimum required amount before you can avail of it. The bonus miles can be used to purchase flights for your next vacation. You can also choose to save it for a big flight, since the miles never expire. The rewards scheme of this card, though, may change from time to time; therefore, you should make it a habit to check its rewards scheme every now and then.
How Reasonable are the Interest Rates?
If you get accepted for this card, your credit score, among other factors, will be used to determine what your APR will be. Nevertheless, it will be between 15 to 20 percent, which is actually a lower range than most of the travel cards today. Note that the rate is variable, depending on the prime rate, which is set by the Federal Reserve of the United States.
Are There Other Fees and Charges?
Similar to most cards, there is a penalty fee, but it is only imposed if you miss two payments in a row. It is important that you read the fine print of the card agreement. The penalty fee will mostly stay in your account for one year. Even until then, the charge is below 30%, which is a bit lower than other cards’ fees.
It should not come as a surprise to you that there is an annual fee. Since it has a ton of rewards packages, expect to be hit with a high membership fee, which you need to pay every year. Just like most American Express cards, though, the annual fee is waived for the first year. Other fees include the late fee, which is also a bit high. Therefore, it will be beneficial for you to set up automatic payments or at least be notified before the repayment schedule to avoid the late fee.
With all things considered, it is safe to say that the Gold Delta SkyMiles® credit card is a great traveler’s card. If you are often away from home, the superior rewards program and the inexpensive interest rates will most likely appeal to you.
