Before You Accept the Imagine Visa Offer

Start with the original mailer. Your offer contains information specific to the mailing, including the acceptance instructions, acceptance code, expiration date, and advertised offer terms.

Before responding, read the offer and its disclosures from beginning to end. Pay particular attention to the expiration date and any instructions explaining how to respond.

If you want to understand what the word "prequalified" means before proceeding, see our Imagine Visa Prequalification vs. Approval guide.

Step 1: Locate Your Acceptance Instructions

The mail offer should tell you how to respond. Depending on the offer, the instructions may direct you to a website, provide a QR code, or provide a telephone number.

Use the response method printed on your own offer. Do not assume that instructions from another Imagine Visa mailing are identical to yours.

Use the original offer.

Keep your mailer nearby while responding so you can reference the exact acceptance instructions and information associated with your offer.

Step 2: Check the Offer Expiration Date

Check the expiration date printed on your mailer before beginning the response process. The offer is tied to the date and terms stated in the mailing, so do not assume an old offer is still available simply because you still have the letter.

If you are unsure whether an offer is still active, use the contact information or response instructions printed on the original mailer.

See Imagine Visa Offer Expiration Date for more information about expiration dates.

Step 3: Have Your Acceptance Code Ready

If your mailer includes an acceptance code, have it available before starting the response process. Enter the code exactly as it appears on the offer when prompted.

The acceptance code is associated with the mailed offer. It is not the same thing as a credit card number, account number, or card security code.

For more information about locating and using the code, see Imagine Visa Acceptance Code.

Step 4: Follow the Online or Telephone Instructions

Follow the response instructions provided with your offer. If the mailing directs you to an online application, enter the requested information and acceptance code where indicated.

If the offer provides telephone instructions instead, use the telephone number printed on the mailer. If it provides a QR code, scanning the code may take you to the appropriate response process.

Avoid using a website address or telephone number copied from an unrelated advertisement when responding to a specific mailed offer. The information printed on your offer is the appropriate starting point for that offer.

Step 5: Review the Information You Are Providing

As you complete the application, carefully review the information you enter before submitting it. Make sure names, addresses, income information, and other requested details are accurate and current.

The application process may request information that was not included in the original mailer. That is normal for an application and is another reason a prequalified offer should not be confused with a completed approval.

Step 6: Review the Credit Limit and Account Terms

Before submitting the application or accepting an account, review the terms presented to you. The mail offer may advertise a credit limit of up to $2,000, but "up to" does not mean every applicant will receive that amount.

You should also review the applicable annual fee, account maintenance fee, APR, and other charges. The terms that apply to your account are more important than assuming that another Imagine Visa offer has the same terms.

Our Imagine Visa Fees and Costs guide covers the different types of charges that may apply.

Review Why It Matters
Credit limit Confirms the starting limit associated with the account if approved.
Annual fee Shows whether an annual fee applies and how much it is.
Account maintenance fee Shows whether an ongoing account maintenance charge applies.
APR Shows the applicable interest rate if you carry a balance or otherwise incur interest.
Other fees Identifies charges that may apply to transactions or account services.

Step 7: Submit the Application

Once you have reviewed the application and applicable disclosures, submit the application through the response method provided with your offer.

Keep any confirmation number, reference information, or other confirmation provided after submission. It can be useful if you need to follow up about the application.

Remember: Submitting the application is not the same as receiving final approval. The application still has to go through the issuer's decision process.

Step 8: Wait for the Application Decision

After submission, the application is processed by the issuer. You may receive a decision during the application process, or you may be asked for additional information.

If an account is opened, review the account-opening materials and terms provided with the account. Those documents establish the terms applicable to your account.

What If You Change Your Mind?

Receiving a prequalified offer does not require you to accept it. You can review the offer and decide whether the advertised terms fit your needs before submitting an application.

If you decide not to respond, keep the mailer secure until you are ready to dispose of it. Since the letter can contain personal and offer-specific information, avoid simply leaving it where other people can access it.

What If Your Acceptance Code Does Not Work?

First, check that you entered the code exactly as printed. Make sure you are using the code from the correct Imagine Visa mailing and check the offer expiration date.

If the code still does not work, use the telephone number or other contact information printed on your original offer to ask about the specific mailing.

Do not post the complete acceptance code or a photograph of the entire mailer publicly while asking for help. The mailing may contain additional personal or offer-specific information.

Does Accepting the Offer Guarantee a $2,000 Limit?

No. The mail offer may advertise a credit limit of up to $2,000, but the phrase "up to" describes the maximum advertised amount. It does not mean that every recipient will receive a $2,000 starting limit.

The actual credit limit associated with an approved account is determined through the account-opening process.

See Imagine Visa Credit Limit for a closer look at the advertised credit limit.
